Ellies Surprise Flash

Note to Teresa: This is a reminder to that you have my Flash project, this is because it would not upload it to the blog, thank you

My concept for this project was to create a rapid display of a sequence of an image of 2D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement of the figures expression. My objective was to encourage users to interact with the image by using just the roll of the computer mouse to create sudden movement of the image. I stared the process from creating my figures within Flash. To create the illusion of movement, I created a my first 2D cartoon figure of a young girl holding a flower with a sad expression on her face and body language then quickly replaced it with my second figure and changed the young girls expression of her face and her body movements into a happy state where she is jumping upwards and throwing the flower into the air. The moving of the image is because of shifting the location of an object and complex transformations of object properties such as size, shape and shadows. Although this was my frist time using Flash I became comfortable and had a good understanding of using this program from my past experience of other applications. My comfort with the technologies with working with Flash would be at level 3 of good knowledge. I used my knowledge and understanding of the techniques and tools within Flash and applied them to creating a illusion of movement and an interaction between the user and 2D image.

Dim Sum- Bonnie Tan

www.webspace.ocad.ca/~bt05vl/

I never worded with flash before. This was my first time using the program, so I decided to keep my design simple. I created my images from solid works then modified it in Photoshop My comfort level with the technologies was 2, I worked with Photoshop before, so creating the images was no problem, but I had no knowledge about flash. But with the instructions I think I went through the program well.

Sima's animation

This project was a very good project and I learned a lot about PhotoShop and Flash. I haven't that much exposure to computers, but was able to complete it.

I found these images on the internet and made them kiss in PhotoShop.

My knowledge of computer is 1 no prior knowledge.

I started this assignment with simply looking for an image on the internet. But the more I searched for an image, i found it more difficult to conclude with one of my choice. Instead, I drew one on Flash. It took a very long time to come up with my image. Drawing on flash was a new experience for me, I think i did very well with it. My second image was a copy of my first, but rendered on the eyes, lips and added a hand. I had a hard time trying to make the image flip back and forward. I thought it was because i started my image on flash, but it was fixed simply by retrying the invisible button.

My comfort level with the technique is a 3. I think I would have had an easier time if I finish my drawing earlier and if I found an image on he internet then working with adobe first, rather then starting with flash and ending with flash.

Denys' Web Flash

Made the two images in Illustrator.
Had issues with posting it on the webspace.

I have created this small cute lil' stuff toy, it is a celebration to my overall staying in this course~! So cute....*Squish*Squish* (With mouse)~ My concept came from the korean internet game call Ragnorok Online... I really love this little jello doll for it gives me a really cool, comfortable squishy feeling....(Laugh) I think this could really be the first time I have EVER try to use flash player independently.....I am to be honest, very Proud of my very first work on flash. =)

Amys Flash

http://webspace.ocad.ca/~ah07nk/

My Concept was to have someone smiling and by the movement of the mouse pucker their lips into a kiss.
I took the original images off of google and then edited the background out using photoshop.
The only challenges I had when doing this assignment was working with Flash. This was my first time using this software so it took a couple tries before I was able to complete this assignment.
My comfort level would be around a 2 (limited knowledge)

Nina's Flash Button

http://webspace.ocad.ca/~nz07em/

This is a girl suffering from skitzophrenia. I took two phtographs of a girl. I tried as much as possible to make the two phtographs reveal two distinct personalities that the user will discover as they scroll over her face.

Jonah Flynn's Flash Button Cartoon

http://webspace.ocad.ca/~jf07ih/

I figured it would be cool to add a little bit of extra animation as an intro to the button portion of the movie just to add some atmosphere and sense of story (even though you could hardly consider this a story at all). I used separate images for the roll over as well as the final attack when you actually click on me or the dog (be sure to do that, it's the conclusion of the "story"). The cartoon has three different layers of background (the sidewalk, the fence and the trees/sky). I'm fairly comfortable with Flash cartooning and have had some minor experience with it in the past. That's all, I guess.

cnboxcar animation

I really feel good about making a functional animation. I really love trains and seeing a boxcar door open with a click of the mouse turly is exciting for me. I had limted knowledge going into this assignment. This assignment sparked more interest in flash and I may consider using it in the future.

this guys looks awesome a super squrriel!

Xiao Zheng (Jennie ) Flash Project

http://webspace.ocad.ca/~xz07kj/

I created this little sleepy doggie, because i'm really a dog person, so i chose to make a cute doggie the last project. ^^V I edited the images in Photoshop, i usually using Photoshop it edit images and drawing with Illustrator, but for Flahs, this is the second time i tried to use flash, i know flash can create very amazing effect but because it is working with timeline, so when working with flash that really have to be patience deal with errors. As when i was using the flash today, i made a little error, only one extra letter than the whole thing was not working and it took me long time to figure out where the error was and finally the image work. I give myself 4 for the comfort level for using the softwares. ^^

Chris' flash

Single Action Interaction-Allie Chiu

http://webspace.ocad.ca/~ac07gi/

I did the illustration in illustrator, it's my first time to use illustrator.

It was fun, and the photoshop part was easy.

The flash part was confusing and hard maybe because I did not use flash before.

my comfort level with the technologies used is 3.

KELVIN KWAN'S AWESOME BUTTON THING

http://webspace.ocad.ca/~kk07tl/

THE MUSICIAN

http://webspace.ocad.ca/~dw07fb/

a. The musician in this flash is a representation of myself. I combined a keyboard and guitar to make a super instrument because I enjoy playing booth equally.

b. The whole process was confusing at first, but after following the steps carefully it became much more clear and fairly simple to use. I had no prior knowledge to this technology.

there now behold the Eggbot in all it's glorry

From mesh to flesh

Well, here is my 3D Car Model that goes from the mesh to the final render.

My Smilies

http://webspace.ocad.ca/~jm07jf/

My concept was to create an emotion from going from sad to happy. The sad face is blue and the happy face is yellow to support symbolically the emotions they convey. Their sizes, going from small to big also support these emotions.I don't have many comments to make but after this little assignment at the end of the year, I can foresee the technical obstacles that await me next year. Hopefully all goes well and that I can improve my skills quickly.

Comfort level: 2
Huzzah it is complete behold Eggbot 2.0.9.6

Jessica's Sparta! Single-Action Interaction

Link: http://webspace.ocad.ca/~jn07fk/

I decided to animate this little Sparta character my friend drew for me, because Spartans rule. I followed the process we were shown in class, creating two images, importing them into flash, and programming it to be a rollover button.

My comfort level with this technology was a 3.5. I have used Photoshop a lot and Flash quite a bit, but I had never used the programming function of Flash.

Epic Table Flip- Ronny Rees

http://webspace.ocad.ca/~vr07hc/

Photoshop was used to draw the images. That was the easy part. Flash and i do not get along very well and it took a lot of help to get this done. i still don't like flash.

comfort level from 1 to 5...i'm at about a 1.

Bee-utiful-Katie Docherty

BEE

I created the image using illustrator. I wanted it to be simple and fun. I took a course on flash a few years ago but I have forgotten everything, it was fun to use it again, but it reminded me why I dropped out of web design in the first place (too much CODE). I rate my comfort level at about a 3.5 because it was not as hard as some of the things I have had to do in the past, but I also couldn't remember how to do everything. Enjoy. Summer is coming!!!

Cheers,
Katie

Flash "Roll-Over" - by Kurt Limeback

"WAKE UP JAQUES!!"

--------------------------------------------------------------------

For this in-class assignment, I was responsible for creating a 'Roll Over' image using Flash. I decided to take a humourous approach by depicting a sleeping elderly man. When the viewer rolls over the image with his/her mouse, the image changes and Jaques is abruptly woken from his afternoon siesta.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I enjoyed creating the 2 images but later found some of the Flash 'Actions' difficult to understand. Once I grasped the concepts, I was able to put everything together with relative ease.

Overall comfort level = 3.5

Flash Monkey---Colan Nicholson

http://webspace.ocad.ca/~cn07jg/

the concept for my little flash thing was was to just entertain myself and come up with something unexpected
i had A LOT of difficulty figuring out the buttons and the actions and coding things needed to get the monkey to move when the mouse rolls over it. it was EXTREMELY confusing.

overall id say my comfort level varied with the certain aspects of the project. i was up to a 4 when it came to the images and key framing and stuff but when it came to the codes and buttons i was a 2.

Congratulations!

Just wanted to say how proud I am of our class project and all of your hard work!

I received several emails from Experience Design faculty, Sara Diamond our President, Doreen Balabanoff our Assistant Dean, people at the Media Arts Department, Jim Ruxton, Integrated Media Instructor and many more with great feedback about our event.

They said things like the enthusiasm from you was infectious, that we "raised the roof", and that the designs would be on our minds for the days to come.

Thanks for making our wonderful project come alive! I look forward to talking about it next class!

Dossiers & Scenarios to hand in next week

Hi class, first of all, thanks for all your hard work with Activate!

This is just a reminder in case I don't get a chance to talk to each of you during the event tomorrow, to bring in your dossiers (worth 25%) and scenarios (worth 5%) for next class (week 12). All the information is in the project description. For the front cover of your dossier, download the online assessment form. Both these documents can be found under the "Course Materials" link through the blog. Please email me if you have any questions.

In addition to handing in your dossiers and scenarios, we'll also settle out budgets and have fun watching the documentation team's work.

Looking forward to tomorrow!

Teresa

The game website

As you know, on gameday, we will have a projection of a timer onto a wall. To make things look better, I quickly made up a tiny website.
It is going to be operated by the referee, or whoever wants to.
Its basically a 5 minute countdown that ends in a 'GAME OVER' page with a gong sound.
Click here to check it out.
